FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Mind-reading is not my forte, but I will do my best here to answer any questions you might have about wedding photography.
What is your style of photography?
As much as I would like to give you a simple answer, the reality is my photographs just don’t belong to a single category. I like to stay in the shadows from time to time, and capture moments that you are likely to miss due to so many things happening all at once! I keep these images looking honest and true to how they happened.
When it comes to the aesthetics of the images, I love to incorporate the surrounding landscapes into your photos, work with or create interesting lighting and dynamic compositions. Bottom line is to make you look good, really good while staying true to how the day unfolded.
How many edited photos do we receive?
This depends on factors such as the number of guests in attendance, the type of wedding venue and to some extent the weather on your wedding day. There are also other factors in play which I’m happy to touch on when we meet 🙂
I do put a lot of emphasis on good story-telling, so I’ll make sure the images delivered are more than enough to tell the story of the day. From experience, I deliver 400 to 550 images for a full wedding day.
Do you travel for weddings outside of Auckland?
MOST DEFINITELY. Besides Auckland, I have photographed weddings and pre-wedding sessions in Christchurch, Lake Tekapo, Queenstown, Tauranga, Lake Taupo, Hamilton, Waihi, Paihia and the Great Barrier Island.
Do you do pre-wedding photoshoots?
Yes I do photograph pre-wedding sessions, these typically involve being dressed in full wedding attire and last from a day up to a few days. Some of the preferred locations include Lake Tekapo, Mount Cook, Queenstown and Auckland.
If you are looking for a more casual engagement/couple session, I also provide two-hour sessions in Auckland and you get to pick your favourite location for the shoot.
Do you provide wedding albums?
It is my belief that prints are still the best way to appreciate and store photographs. I do provide wedding albums and you can choose to have them for your wedding or not, and if you only decide to get one done after your wedding has finished, I will be more than happy to create one for you.
Please get in touch if you are keen on checking out sample albums in person, they are world-class albums and will last you for generations.
We haven't gotten professional photos done before, would you provide directions on the wedding day?
Before photographing weddings, I began my photography ‘journey’ shooting landscapes and models. So yes I love to give directions and will do so on your wedding day or engagement shoot.
If the weather permits, do you do night time/star/milky way photography?
These are some of my favorites! The key is to ensure the location we are at has minimal light pollution and it helps if the skies are super clear.
Have you photographed at (insert ceremony or reception venue) before?
There’s a 50-50 chance that I have… OK on a more serious note, if I haven’t been to a particular location before, I make it a point to scout out the location prior to your wedding day. The aim is to familiarise myself with the grounds and have an idea of off-site locations for photos if you would like my input.
How long do we need to set aside for bridal party photos and couple portraits?
The ideal amount of time would be 1.5 to 2 hours. This ensures we have a good variety of photos for you, as well as keep it an enjoyable experience without having to rush about too much.
That being said I have worked with much less time before, so if there are time constraints that you have to work with, or you would like to dedicate even more time for this portion of the day, I will make it work for you.
We have a family member or relative who is really keen on photography, would you mind if she or he brought a camera along and take some snaps?
Sure! I might have a quick chat to make sure we don’t get into each other’s shots, but if you are keen then I have no issues with it at all.
