Getting inspired..

More often than not, many of us find ways to inspire ourselves through other people who are doing the same things as ourselves. If you’re a musician, you look to other musicians who perform similar styles of music. If you’re a basketball player, you look at how other ball players train. If you’re a wedding photographer, you look up galleries of wedding photographers you admire and try to (more…)

Just published my new facebook page!

So after a long-running debate within my own little head, convincing myself that it’s a good idea, and then going against that idea, I have finally got my facebook page up and running! (more…)

Enjoy the little things

I am quite a fan of zombie movies, not so much for the gory scenes but I love to see how human beings respond to a zombie-apocalypse level threat. So yesterday I decided to re-watch Zombieland (for the 9000th time!) and when the end credits came up (more…)

Is it worth it?

Most of you out there have at least a tiny little spark flickering inside you. Depending on your decisions, the people around you and maybe your circumstances, this spark might grow to be a flame or it can gradually die out. (more…)

Welcoming Summer with open arms

Even though the North Island is significantly warmer than the South Island, the past few months that I have spent in Auckland were still considered chilly in my books. Things have been looking up though, temperatures are getting to a very comfortable point (more…)

Michael Hill – a great story

I happened to pass by a Whitcoulls store today, and decided to have a look at some new titles that were available. When I slowly drifted to the ‘Biography’ section, one book immediately caught my attention (and this is a very hard thing to do, by the way). It was a book written by Michael Hill, yes THE Michael Hill.

The biography was so addictive, I just couldn’t put the book down! It pertained so much to me, as he mentioned his thought process throughout building his business, and his goals in the near future.

One particular point stood out to me very clearly. I won’t divulge it too clearly as the book truly deserves to be bought and read multiple times to be fully appreciated, but if you can visualize something in your mind, you can basically realize it in real life.

That to me is such a huge morale booster, as I too am trying to convert my vision into something real and tangible.

Oh and I was so glad I made that random trip into the book store 🙂

Have you come across any stories that greatly inspired you? Do share it!

Hilton hotel Auckland!

I am super excited about the upcoming opportunity to shoot at the Hilton hotel in Auckland. I have shot weddings in a number of different places in New Zealand, be it on mountains, beside lakes or in churches.. but there is something about the Auckland skyline and the harbour that intrigues me.

People tend to have the impression that Auckland (more…)

How comfortable are you with yourself?

We are getting to the end of 2015. Smart phones are getting bigger with each release, there are apps for pretty much every conceivable purpose, and human interaction seems to be losing out to interactions with touch screens. These led me to think, how comfortable are people with themselves?

Don & Nora – Lake Tekapo Wedding

lake-tekapo-church-shepherd

It was a sunny afternoon.. blue skies peppered with little puffy clouds. I had met Don and Nora a day prior to their big day, and couldn’t feel more comfortable due to their easy-going personalities.

We had a brief little ceremony and toast under a pretty archway by the lake, and were off taking photos in the mesmerizing surrounds. (more…)

3 elements that contribute to an image that stand out (IN MY OPINION)

Sheep grazing at Godley Head Taylors Mistake

I will be the first to admit that I haven’t got everything figured out in photography. It is a craft that comprises such a vast spectrum of skills and knowledge, personal creativity, technical aspects of equipment mastery, and interpersonal skills (yes this is a big one). Yet even with most of these down pat, it is not a given that your audience will like your images. Whether someone likes your images (more…)
